Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State on Saturday visited the three offices of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
Obiano visited offices which are located in Ekwulobia, Neni and Awkuzu.
Information gathered revealed that the governor during his visited ordered the release of three detainees which were held illegally.
Governor Obiano in his statement said, “the Commissioner of Police in the state has released everyone detained illegally, and everyone remanded by the order of the court, will remain there until their cases are determined.”
Recall that Obiano on Thursday sacked his senior security aide, James Nwafor, who was formerly a SARS boss in the state before his appointment.
The Anambra State Governor also promised that any police found wanting would be punished.
Obiano revealed that on Monday, he will inaugurate a panel that will entertain public petitions on the activities of SARS in the state, adding that the panel will be headed by a retired Chief Judge.
